Meger data from two computers
|
I have Address Manager installed on both my computers.
I have maintained data separately on those computers but now want to merge the data. Is there an easy way to do this?
|
Yes, if you use the options on the Tools menu called Export Names and Addresses and Import Names and Addresses. The Import process will try to add the addresses to the contact data that already resides on it, prompting the user when it finds duplicate records.
In Address Manager on one of the computers, click Tools then Export Names and Addresses. Choose the Format as Microsoft Access, select all Address Types and click browse to save that file to disk or flash drive. In Address Manager on the other computer, click Tools then Import Names and Addresses. Choose the Format as Address Manager and click browse to find the saved file. Click on it and click Open, then click Import. When duplicates are detected the software will put up a message and you may either skip or replace them.
After you have done the import into one of the computers, you can transfer the combined data from this computer to the other computer by using the Backup Database and Restore Database features under the File Menu. We recommend using a flash drive to transfer the data file. In the software, click on File then Backup Database and navigate to or choose the drive letter of your USB flash drive and click OK or Save the backup file to the flash drive. Put the flash drive in the other computer, open the software, click on File then Restore Database, navigate to or choose the drive letter of your USB flash drive, select the file and click OK or Open to restore that file.
