Not valid backup file
Description:
Customer upgraded from version 1 to version 3. Version 3 was installed on a new computer. Customer tried to restore a APSAM.MDB backup file created by v1 but receives an error message saying it is not a valid backup file. How can I get my info from version 1 to version 3?

Solution:

There are a number of differences between the database in version 1 and version 3 therefore a restore of a v1 database is not able to be done. There is however, another option that can be used to get your contacts out of the v1 database....

Instead of using the Restore Database option, click on Tools then Import Names and Addresses.

Select Address Manager as the import Source and then click Browse. Locate the APSAM.MDB file you created with version 1 and click open. Then click Import.
