Category: EZ Small Business Software
Subject:
Database is version 0 error
Description:
I am receiving an error when I try and open my EZ Small Business program. The error message is Database is version 0.

Solution:

EZ uses Microsoft Access technology, which can on occasion get itself corrupted. Your database is corrupted- luckily the fix is usually fairly painless.

1) Make sure everyone is out of EZ.

2) Verify with your network administrator that the current version of the database is backed up safely.

3) Run this file from its current location: http://www.allprosoftware.com/demos/repairdb.exe

4) Change the path of the database to be the location you are currently using.

5) Press Repair to begin the process.

This program may run for a few minutes- don’t do anything on the computer until it has completed. It will give you a message when it’s finished.

Once it says the database was repaired successfully, you can exit the program by pressing ‘cancel’.

EZ should be functional again.

For your technical folks, this program makes a backup of the existing database (but you should also do your own backups before using it!) which will be called ez.n where n is the next highest number available in the same directory where the database is stored. Once you know EZ is working properly, this file can be deleted.
