We are trying to construct a tournament where each team is guaranteed 4 games and a losers bracket is involved, allowing its winner to advance to the semifinals. Is this type of tournament possible with your software?
|
For a 4 game guarantee as you have described, you would need to create two events in your tournament file. A pool play event and a double elimination event which will get set as a championship bracket. Follow the instructions below to set that up.
Instructions: Setting up a pool play event with a Championship bracket linked to it. • Go into Tournament Setup. • Click on New to add a new event(Pool Play event) and name it. • Click on Team Event then on Pool Play. Enter in the number of pools you wish to have. • Click the Advanced Event Settings button. • On the General tab, set game length, rest time between games and start date. • Click OK to close the Advanced Settings box and then click Save. • Click on New to add a new event(Championship event) and name it. • Click on Team event and then Double Elimination Bracket. • Click the Advanced Event Settings button. • On the General tab, set game length, rest time between games and start date (a start date is recommended to force the Championship event to start on day 2 or at a specific date/time). • Click on the Championship/Consolation Tab. • Put a check in Championship Event. • Put in the number of Teams that are advancing to this event. • From the Previous Event Dropdown box, choose the pool play event this event is drawing teams from. • Click OK to close the Advanced Settings box and then click Save. • Click on the Locations tab and select the locations that you will be using for this championship bracket event and click Add Locations to Event. In the Current Event Dropdown box, choose the Pool Play event and then assign the Locations for that event. • Click the Teams tab. Add the teams to the Pool Play event. • Click OK when finished.
You will then need to seed your teams into the pool play event, schedule the game times for your locations and compute the schedule.
